Experience a Piece of American History at the Pentagon Memorial

January 30, 2017

For those interested in American history, the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial is one place you don't want to miss. Since it’s located just across the street from Arlington's Pentagon metro stop, it's easily accessible from just about anywhere in DC.

The memorial is, of course, a somber and serious place, and its many benches and seats offer ample opportunity to quietly contemplate the sacrifice made by the 184 people who died at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Each of these people are individually and permanently remembered in the memorial park. There's also a 24-minute audio tour you can listen to on your phone while you're at the memorial (just call 202-741-1004 for the recorded tour). Past visitors say it's a beautiful, peaceful place, filled with moving tributes to the American spirit. If you haven’t yet visited this important local site, consider working it into your plans sometime soon.
