Watch Planes Come in for a Landing at Gravelly Point

March 29, 2021

It’s officially springtime, friends! We’ve been waiting for the sun to stay and the warmer days to be upon us and they’re finally here. So, don’t waste time sitting in your apartment, get outside and explore the local area. One spot you should check out is Gravelly Point. This one-of-a-kind park is situated right along the Potomac River. But that isn’t what makes it so unique—it’s straight North from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, so while you’re soaking up the sun and enjoying the great outdoors, you can also watch the airplanes landing at the airport up close and personal. It’s an aviation-lover’s dream spot!

Locals have loved it throughout COVID-19 since it’s a little lesser-known area. It’s typically got plenty of wide-open space for social distancing and enjoying time together but 6-feet apart. So, pack a picnic, gather some friends, and get ready for an afternoon of plane watching, nature watching, and great conversation. You may have to speak a little loudly to drown out the plane engines, though. But that’s part of the charm!
